Located in Khalanga, the headquarters of Darchula district (Mahakali municipality ward no. 5 in Gulfaima) V.No. District Hospital Darchula, which has been operating since 2043, has been providing services to citizens of all 9 local levels of Darchula district. Although the physical structure of District Hospital Darchula is spread over an area of 37-11-0-1 plants, V.No. Due to the flood in Mahakali river on 2nd June 2070, the land of the hospital and the buildings on that land were swept away, and now District Hospital Darchula has only 24-1-0-1 ropani land left (according to Survey Office Darchula) and the remaining dilapidated buildings left from the flood. Currently, the services of the district hospital are being provided from some rooms of the building and some buildings built with the grant of the state government. Due to the fact that public land (with land required for a hospital) is not available in the district headquarters area, and the residents of the area where the hospital is located have protested when trying to move the hospital to another location, there is no option to construct an additional 50-bed hospital building on the remaining land with a suitable design based on the location. With an approved capacity of 15 beds, this hospital is operating up to 50 beds due to the pressure of patients. Lack of physical structure, shortage of doctors and health workers are the main problems of the present hospital. At present, there is a low vacancy in the hospital and some of the existing vacancies are also vacant, so services are being provided to the hospital by taking the manpower service contract. After the country went to federalism, this hospital is currently under the Ministry of Social Development of Far West Province Government. This hospital is different from other villages in Darchula district. Pa. and no. Pa. It is also a referral center for health institutions located in the district.
